Fiction offers a wonderful mirror into the minds and emotions of persons of the Gilded Age, or of any era, for that matter.  People living in our era have a great advantage in that so much fiction is available for free, on line.  The novels, plays, and short stories I've included here cover a wide spectrum--humor, advocacy, mystery, romance, and about as many different points of view as one can imagine.

I've divided them into two categories,  Fiction for Adults, and Fiction for Children (momma and papa would read to the little ones before they learned to read for themselves).
